About Us

Lesley began icing cakes as a hobby some 20 years ago, having attended evening courses at Mary Ford Cake Artistry Centre and Bournemouth College.  This led her to start making cakes for friends and family.  In 2011 she turned her hobby into a fully fledged business making  bespoke wedding and celebration cakes from her home in the New Forest.  In addition Lesley makes fun cookies for wedding favours and other occasions.  A  traditional ice cream bike serving Marshfield Farm ice cream is a new addition to the business catering for weddings, celebrations and corporate events.

Cakes and Fancies is delighted to be a recommended cake supplier of the Balmer Lawn Hotel at Brockenhurst and a Trusted Partner to the Chewton Glen Hotel at New Milton.

“We just wanted to put our thoughts about the wedding cake you made for Claire and Mark in writing.  We were absolutely delighted with it as I told you on Saturday morning. It looked amazing and every tier tasted delicious.  Many of the guests said it was the best wedding cake they had seen and tasted and we would certainly agree with that. The impact the cake had on everyone was superb – just the way Claire and Mark had hoped. We won’t hesitate to recommend your work to others and hopefully we ourselves will require your services for future celebrations. With sincere thanks and best wishes for every success”.

Judith and Frank - brides parents (ivory roses with purple gem stones wedding cake),     Nov 2012

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for Sophie’s fantastic 16th Birthday cake!  The detail in her dress was brilliant and the flowers with the crystal gel looked beautiful. We all thought the icing and model were excellently crafted and everyone was scrambling to get photos. Needless to say she was over the moon and so were we! You are very talented and I will make sure I let people know about your work and I will most certainly be back for future celebration cakes”.

Alison (Sophie’s 16th birthday cake), Sep 2012

You are a true professional and I will definitely use you again for future events.”

Neil (60th birthday cake), Jun 2012

“You excelled again!  What a beautiful cake for our special day – everyone was enchanted by it. My photographer friend spent some time getting shots which I am sure will look delightful. It was a shame to plunge in the knife, but the eating justified that!”

Neil (Wedding blessing cake), Jun 2012

“A huge, huge thank you to Lesley for. her stunning extravaganza of a super-yacht cake for my daughter’s 18th birthday. The detailing is amazing, witty and intricate: a
two-storey yacht named Georgia, complete with pool, sunloungers, funnels,
jetski, lots of discarded wine bottles, Happy Birthday written in Chinese and,
best of all, the figures of Georgia and her four best friends (beautifully
rendered from just a few photos). When she saw the cake Georgia broke into a
massive grin and cackles of laughter. It’s awesome’ was the first comment! When her friends saw it they spontaneously squealled with awe and delight. ‘The best birthday present ever’ is the final verdict from a very happy birthday girl. Thanks, Lesley, for all your hard work and professionalism.”

Sue (Super yacht cake), Mar 2012

“Thanks very much for all your hard work and for the end result.  I think you and Alena did brilliantly organising it by remote control, the colour was spot on and matched the bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers perfectly.”

“Thank you so much for the lovely cake, it really is superb. I’ve left the lid off the cake box in the kitchen cos it just makes me chuckle every time I look at it.  I am amazed how thin you have rolled out the icing for the paper hats – they are almost paper-thin!”

Rob Dewing (Chilled-out Xmas cake), Dec 2011
