Lesley began icing cakes as a hobby some 20 years ago, having attended evening courses at Mary Ford Cake Artistry Centre and Bournemouth College. This led her to start making cakes for friends and family. In 2011 she turned her hobby into a fully fledged business making bespoke wedding and celebration cakes from her home in the New Forest. In addition Lesley makes fun cookies for wedding favours and other occasions. A traditional ice cream bike serving Marshfield Farm ice cream is a new addition to the business catering for weddings, celebrations and corporate events.
Cakes and Fancies is a recommended cake supplier to Balmer Lawn Hotel at Brockenhurst in the New Forest.

“Everyone loved the cake Lesley as you can see. It tasted really yummy too and we sent mum home with half of it after her do. Thank you very much.”
Julia (mum’s 70th)
‘This is just a note so that you can pass on my thanks to Lesley, who made my birthday cake. Having done a short course many years ago I can appreciate how demanding and fiddly the icing was and I am very impressed with her expertise. Please do thank her for such a lovely cake.”

“Thank you so much for the beautiful Diamond Wedding Anniversary cake you made for
my husbands parents. Without fail everybody at the party remarked how fantastic it tasted and how lovely it looked, (some even thinking the flowers were real and not edible!)”
Sarah Lowe (Diamond wedding cake)
“Thank you so much for the lovely cake, it really is superb. I’ve left the lid off the cake box in the kitchen cos it just makes me chuckle every time I look at it. I am amazed how thin you have rolled out the icing for the paper hats – they are almost paper-thin!”
Rob Dewing (Chilled-out Xmas cake)
“Thank you for the stunning cake , you really did us proud and it tasted great.”
Jeff and Emma (Wedding and Christening cake combo)

Neil (Retirement cake)
“A huge, huge thank you to Lesley for. her stunning extravaganza of a super-yacht cake for my daughter’s 18th birthday. The detailing is amazing, witty and intricate: a
two-storey yacht named Georgia, complete with pool, sunloungers, funnels,
jetski, lots of discarded wine bottles, Happy Birthday written in Chinese and,
best of all, the figures of Georgia and her four best friends (beautifully
rendered from just a few photos). When she saw the cake Georgia broke into a
massive grin and cackles of laughter. It’s awesome’ was the first comment! When her friends saw it they spontaneously squealled with awe and delight. ‘The best birthday present ever’ is the final verdict from a very happy birthday girl. Thanks, Lesley, for all your hard work and professionalism.”
